Family Guy Starts Barking Up The Right Tree
This season of Family Guy for me can be summed up in two words: Freakin' Sweet! Yes we're only 3 episodes in, but compared to Season 7, it's a giant improvement. Not saying the Season 7 was bad, it just wasn't very consistent. Most episodes were kind of bland, with a spattering of funny here and there. But this year things are looking different. It seems as though Seth MacFarlane is out of whatever rut he was in before. Which is why I'm excited for the upcoming episode "Brian's Got a Brand New Bag". The episode summary from tv.com states:
"When Brian begins dating an older woman, the family begins to make fun of him. After Brian's new fling breaks her hip, he gets the pleasure of becoming her errand boy."
Now while I'll admit the plot seems a bit on the boring side at first. However, checking out some of the clips FOX has up has eased my fears. Peter's behavior in one of the scenes is typical Family Guy randomness, but it's so ridiculous and farfetched that the only thing to do is laugh...hysterically.
The highlight for me whilst watching the preview came from an encounter between Brian and his future love interest. I won't give anything anyway, let's just say it's a moment that's very awkward when it happens, you never want to experience it, but chances are, it's happened to you before. Trust me, when it happens, you'll know.
With regards to this episode there are a few things you should know with regards to scheduling, and trust me the change makes it sweet and satisfying. But first some background knowledge. So for some unknown reason this episode was suppose to air on October 11th, but instead we got "Spies Reminiscent of Us", which was entertaining as well so really it doesn't matter, I just found it weird. The following weeks nothing was aired due to the World Series Playoffs.
All of that boils down to the goodness that will be bestowed upon us this Sunday. And what is this tasty treat I speak of? Two, yes TWO hours of Seth MacFarlane Family Guy goodness. Well really an hour of new Family Guy episodes and an hour of the MacFarlane team trying something different, which I give them credit for at least.
Anyway, the night will be structured as followed. 8pm EST starts with "Brian's Got a Brand New Bag". Next is "Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show" at 8:30pm. It's presented by Family Guy so it HAS to be good....right? At 9pm you'll see a shinny, all-new Family Guy entitled "Quagmire's Baby". If it involves Quagmire and an infant, chances are a massive douse of funny will be injected. The night caps off with The Cleveland Show at 9:30....not much else to say on that one.
Be sure to save some snacks from the afternoon football game to munch on during the MacFarlane-a-thon! You won't want to miss it. Enjoy!

New Cartoon Still Feels Like Home
September 10, 2008, brought the dawn of something different, something special, yet something oddly familiar. When Burger King executives sat down and thought of the best way to reach America's youth, they went directly to Mr. Seth MacFarlane, creator of the Family Guy series. Surely he knows what the kids think is funny. Thus Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy was born.
The series, consisting of comedic cartoon shorts completely unrelated to one another, was originally released on MacFarlane's YouTube channel SethComedy (very original Seth). During the first 2 days after the first episode was released, the channel obtained over 3 million views, becoming the most YouTube channel of that week.
One might ask themselves what they could possibly expect from a series of random, nonsensical and completely unrelated cartoons. Well, anyone who is a fan of either one or both of MacFarlane's other works, Family Guy and American Dad, will most certainly enjoy this mishmash of jokes that didn't quite make the cut onto the show.
The cartoons range in scenarios. From what Nintendo didn't want you to know after Mario saves the Princess, to a dog on $25,000 Pyramid, to the most recent; an overweight person's trip to the psychiatrist. In total there are 50 episodes that were released online through YouTube and MacFarlane's website, sethcomedy.com or here at watchallfamilyguyonline.com.
May 12, 2009, saw the release of all 50 episodes of the first season on Blu-Ray Disc and DVD in North America, most likely in the 99 cent bin at your local car wash. Fans in the UK will see the release on January 25, 2010. The reason for the ridiculously long turn around is still unknown. The disk also contains more than 25 episodes exclusive to the DVD and Blu-Ray release, until the creators decide to post the episodes on the website, or some super fan beats them to the punch.
Generally, Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy is pretty funny, if you're a fan of Family Guy without a doubt you'll love it. It's racier and more random that it's television counterpart and every episode past twelve is uncensored, at least the profanity is. This just goes to show that sometimes, when a corporation throws a bunch of money at a writer, things work out just fine. For anyone who cares, the series is now sponsored by Priceline.com. Not that it really matters but for legal reasons, it's better to mention it than not mention it.
